You already know about brushing and flossing the teeth to
reduce bad breath. If you're brushing to no avail, try brushing your tongue or
if you are a purist, try "tongue scraping”. What apparently began as a
West Coast fad has caught on among many dental hygienists, dentists and of
course, cosmetic companies. Tongue scrapers have made their way into chain
drugstores and health food stores nationwide. The scrapers may help get rid of
bad breath--and help prevent it as well. Scrapers cleanse tongues of millions
of tiny bacteria that most people miss when they freshen up their mouth,
morning and evening.
What the cosmetics companies don't tell you is that a spoon or even your tooth
brush will work just as nicely.
Another thing that helps freshen your breath at work is mixing together baking
soda and ground cinnamon. Scoop up the mixture with your tooth brush and brush
away bad breath as well as morning coffee breathe.
Another alternative is using essential oils. Mix together in one-sixth ounce
bottle equal parts of pure essential oils of peppermint, spearmint, star anise
and lemon. Shake well and then add two to three drops of this mixture to
one-fourth cup of water. Take a swig and gargle and rinse well about sixty
seconds.
One that I find easy to do is add two tablespoons of lemon juice to a glass of
water--no sugar please. The lemon adds a great taste to your water put it also
helps you rid your body of excessive water weight and cleans your breath all at
the same time.
